PC Gaming loosing ground to Console Gaming
In it’s recent article “Dell XPS phase-out symptomatic of declining PC gaming sector“, Ars Technica included the below sobering chart (based on Data by “NPD Group”) about the relative evolution of PC Gaming vs Console Gaming over the past 10 years:

The above is bad news, as in this context, it will probably be a while before GTA IV is available for PCs!

Looks like the popularity of consoles has gone a step further, AMD have announced a new naming system to make their products more accessible and easier to understand for the mainstream users. I think that this might just help more people pick up PCs for gaming purposes, if done correctly. What do you think about it?
The NPD statistics are garbage, or at least they were. These charts were probably created before the inclusion on digital downloads statistics, which is where the majority of PC gaming sales are.
If you enjoy being misinformed, follow these inaccurate statistics. If not, disregard these statistics. Plain and simple…
Thanks, Will, for your comment. Your point about the digital downloads is a valid one. Would you have other sources to recommend with “alternative” statistics?
